Sports Medicine Acupuncture®
Natalia has completed the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification (C.SMA), an advanced, board-certified program focused on the treatment of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. This certification was earned through a rigorous, year-long specialization that included the study of human cadavers, applied kinesiology, functional movement, and joint assessment.
She is one of only a small number of practitioners in Illinois with this level of training.
This advanced certification bridges Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern sports medicine, allowing Natalia to assess and treat injuries with a comprehensive, whole-body approach.
Using a combination of orthopedic testing, range of motion assessment, manual muscle testing, and precise palpation, she is able to identify the root cause of pain or dysfunction. These findings are then integrated with Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostics—evaluating the balance of qi, blood, yin, yang, and overall system health.
This dual approach allows for:
Faster recovery from injury
Improved strength and stability
Enhanced performance
Reduced risk of re-injury
The ultimate goal is not only to relieve pain, but to restore proper movement, optimize healing, and help each patient return to the activities they love—stronger and more resilient.
As described by Matt Callison, founder of the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Certification Program: “Sports Medicine Acupuncture integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern orthopedic assessment to evaluate both the local injury and the patient’s overall health. By combining these systems, treatment not only addresses the site of pain but enhances the body’s ability to heal, recover, and perform.”
